It’s been a year and a few days since I started working at VConnect Nigeria and if you know VConnect well, you’ll know it is headed by Indians. We work with Indians and also in the same spirit, celebrate with them when they have festivities. We celebrated Diwali 2015 yesterday and also had the cultural day at the office. They were dressed in saris and sherwanis and the natives had our cultural attires on.
Diwali is the festival of lights and the office was lighted up with diyas (candles) and artificial lights with decorations and all the likes. It is a Hindu festival and celebrates the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. After all this, we had the puja (which is a Hindu family prayer) to Lakshmi (who is the goddess of wealth and prosperity).
Anyway, I was really happy to be there. I actually like learning about other people and their culture and all. Enjoy some of the pictures from the event 🙂

Okay. Close up! See the dot on my forehead.
And then the pictures started – alongside the eating: pies, cakes, cupcakes, pizza, drinks everything
The featured image is called a ragoli, and we had lots of it on the floor at the office.
