July 2015

Hello guys, what’s up? Let me be first to say happy new month to you! (So here it goes, Happy New Month). August will bring you blessings, love and everything you wish for. As usual, I’ll be sharing my favorite things from July and basically, a rundown of what I did.

TV Shows and Movies

Last month, I slacked back on my TV and movies collection for sleep. Yes, normally I watch them after work and dinner (say sometime after 10) but now, its sleep time for me. I sleep early and low-key, it’s perfect for me. I however hope to continue this month. However, I saw Guardians of the Galaxy and a host of other movies. I tried watching Mad Men but somehow, I couldn’t get past the first episode (maybe because it’s ‘old school’). I followed up with Ndani TV and the new series on their bouquet. Totally love the Skinny Girl in Transit bit (I love the fact that Ngozi Nwosu is on it) and Real Talk (with Cornelia). There’s also Kids Say the Darndest Thing Nigeria and I think it’s amazingly funny. These kids are hilarious and sure gave me a good reason to laugh this month.

Blogs, Tumblr and Instagram

As I said last month, I like to read and cyber stalk people (I always mean this in a good way). I read random articles on the internet and I really think editors should try to do their work properly. I read this op-ed piece on a site that was badly written but if you take the patience to understand what the writer meant, he did make sense. That’s the point where the editors come in. Anyway for now, I find myself stalking the people at The Style HQ. The interface is amazing and the articles are great so far! My favorite Tumblr is egosticalgold I believe, he’s really very comfortable playing with flowers and his body and I’m there for all the other things he has wrapped. I like Keside Anosike’s Instagram because he’s amazing and I think you should check it out.

Music and Music Videos

I have a lot of new tracks I’m feeling this month (well, for some rediscovering). Let’s start with ‘Benediction’ by August Alsina and Rick Ross. Then there’s G.R.L with ‘Ugly Heart’ and Fetty Wap with ‘Trap Queen’. Of course everyone knows ‘Bobo’ by Olamide still has my mumu button and there’s now ‘My Woman My Everything (which I didn’t like two weeks ago) and ‘Jangilova’ by Seyi Shay. (AND, MY MUSIC LIST IS INEXHAUSTIBLE). There’s ‘Pose’ by Yemi Alade too and then ‘Lean On’ by Major Lazer and DJ Snake. In addition, there’s ‘Gweta’ by Toofan, ‘Cheerleader’ by Omi and yes, do we go on?

Places and Events

I went to the Lekki Leisure Lake last Sunday and I think it was fun. Although it’s quite sandy, the fresh breeze and the music from the DJ (dunno if he’s the resident DJ) was worth it. There’s also Terra Kulture, where I saw an adaptation of Wole Soyinka’s ‘Mad Men and Specialists’ book and then crashed an art exhibition and had dun dun at the restaurant where I took this lovely picture of the salt and pepper shaker.

I was at the One Voice Peace concert and loved the concept. I even loved the fact that I was entertained to life music. Also, still keeping up with places and events, I was home for a good part, and entertained myself by engaging in an art competition with the sister. (We know who won!)

Praise Jah people, I finished a book ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ this month. With my regular sleeping and how I ignored TV and movies, you would think I won’t have time for books. I sorted my iPad and yes, I’m back to reading. I also read a series of Nigerian literature a friend gave me and I read short stories from Akachi Adimora Ezeigbo, who I think is absolutely brilliant. I’m trying to alternate like two books at once (let’s hope that goes well)

In conclusion, August will be better hopefully. Also if you read here, I contribute to a lifestyle and fashion website (Read here) Meanwhile, if you think there’s anything I should check out (movies, books, music, places, websites etc.) please leave a comment, I’m open to suggestions and would appreciate them!

I still have to tell you guys about my online shopping experience(s) and how I’m longing for an iPhone and how I have no one to send all my amazing selfies to and how my glasses have photographic view. Maybe next week okay?

Have an amazing month guys!!

Hello guys! What’s happening? I completely forgot about my online diary but I’ll be back on Saturday, to rant and gist and say what I’ve been doing for the past two weeks. For today, I got this piece from Victor and I want to share! I’ll be back tomorrow and I’m so pumped about this month’s review like the one I did here.

Ultimate Relationship Goals: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

Hello guys! What’s up? It’s a few minutes past 3 on a Friday morning and I’m listening to Darey’s ‘Pray for Me’ which is one of the best songs I discovered this week. I’m also going to be talking about relationships and relationship goals.

Why relationships? Well, I contribute to a website now and this week, I wrote on my favorite celebrity couples who I feel need to stay together  (because well, there’s the whole Hollywood I’m breaking up with you phase). Even Ben Afleck and Jennifer Garner who we thought were lifetime goals ended it a few days back (and I hear they’re on a divorce retreat. What’s that? And what’s the concept behind that?).

Anyway, in course of my writing and looking though all the cute pictures on Instagram and having to make decisions for my article, it dawned on me that Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are the real MVPs. I mean, they’re not really everywhere but when they are, you have to recognize my people.

So I’ll be showing/giving you five top reasons I think they’re adorable and side tip, moral lesson from these.

  1. When they ordered pizza and stayed in doors all day (and Chrissy thought it wise to update us)

Relationship goals 94/100

It doesn’t get better than this. It’s like hey love, let’s spend some quality time alone! LIKE ALONE.

  1. When she posted of his derriere

I mean, seeing as Justin Bieber’s ass was trending topic at that time, Chrissy had to show off her man. Anything to show off that which is yours!

  1. The All of Me video

Relationship goals 100/100

You could tell love was in his eyes when he did this. And he didn’t need no vixen apart from the real one to show this in the video.

  1. When they cook together

Chrissy has a food blog, and John is so bae he helps out in the kitchen amidst other things. Pretty sure why love abides, they add it to the meal haha!

  1. When they do their PDA thing.

Not everyday sha. Chrissy no doubt looks like she loves the attention and John gives it to her all day, all the time. That’s why you hear kissing in public and all that

And honestly, every picture of Chrissy and John together is really goals!

Since we’re still talking about relationship goals, here is this picture for bae (that I don’t have currently, but I have faith)

I would go on and on gushing about this cute couple, but no. Head over to Chrissy’s Instagram to see for yourself

  • This week, I’ll be heading to my Alma mater for the annual valedictory service (as an Old boy and other things)
  • I’m going on a diet next week (because a friend suggested). Basically no sugar, no red meat and lots of water. Let’s see how it goes!
  • I’m having fresh fish pepper soup today after work and orijin (I really cannot wait)
  • I wrote about Fashion pieces that are making a comeback. Please read now
  • Also, if you sit on a chair for long hours like I do, you should read this piece on HuffPost
  • And yes, welcome to the new readers (I’m excited – noticed the site stats). Please don’t be a stranger. Subscribe to the posts and send me an email – mrfrankugo@gmail.com (THANK YOUUU)

That’s basically it for this week!

Peace, love and everything,

June 2015

Hello guys, what’s up? Happy new month and welcome to the second quarter of the year. Make it work for you (Of course, I wish you the very best). June was a very challenging month for me really but hey, it’s gone. I’ll be sharing my favorite things from June and I really hope I get to recall a good number of them

TV Shows and Movies

Last month, I watched a lot of TV and movies. These were the things I did after work mostly and I must tell you, a lot of them were good. I watched Empire and How to Get Away with Murder (can’t wait for the sequels to these). There was also Game of Thrones which I wrote reviews for weekly on this blog and then, Gidi Up and Lekki Wives. Gidi Up was so good, I’m surprised it took me so long to see it (PS- Ikechukwu needs to concentrate on that acting career) and for Lekki Wives, it’s hilarious. I’m done with the first season and I hear there’s 2 and 3 (how to find these will be the big problem). There was also Alicia Florrick serving major goodness on The Good Wife and Jess from New Girl occasionally.

For movies, I’m not sure I have an accurate record of the movies I saw (They bore me most times now). But I know I saw Jupiter Ascending (liked the fact there was Channing Tatum in it). There was also 13 Lies too, lovely scary movie. Not to forget October 1st by Kunle Afolayan, the message behind the movie may have been mixed up but it was a good one! I also saw Brave, a 30 minutes video on YouTube featuring Adesua Etomi and King Wale Ojo. Very impressive!

Blogs, Tumblr and Instagram

I like to read and cyber stalk people (I mean this in a good way). The guys at Nik Nak are one of my favorite people on the internet (I am a big Pemi Aguda fan). I also love to read Lade’s blog and Black Fabulousity by Kachi and Uche. There’s also 10 and 5, a website that celebrates South African arts, love it! I follow Color the Future on Tumblr and they profile young artistes, really nice that there’s something of that sort. Also, there’s Ukpuru on Tumblr, awesome page!! I also loved this article on Ekene’s blog (you should read it!)

Yagazie Emezi’s Instagram is one of my favorite things, she takes amazing pictures (like Solange has it, she be taking amazing pictures unless she’s in them). Then, of course there’s Stylevitae on Instagram (I’m there for all the Lagos socialites and what they’re up to).

Music and Music Videos

As I write, Simi’s ‘Jamb Question’ is playing (and I can hear the dope beats because I use my Skullcandy earbuds I got as a prise, duh!) and the video is beautiful, just in case you’re still sleeping under a rock or something. Olamide’s ‘Bobo’ is the jam of the moment and I am practicing the dance steps for the next time I’m in public and hear the song. Tonye’s ‘Ari Belema’ is so beautiful; I can’t wait to see the video. I’m still suck on Asa’s ‘Bed of Stone’ album and Sia’s ‘1000 Forms of Fear’ album. They’re there for me always.

Places and Events

I was indoors for a better part last month. Major places I visited were the Lekki Beach which I wrote about here and Single in Gidi which I wrote about here. Speaking about Single in Gidi, I made a video of Bez Idakula singing (Watch here) and I’ll share with you some actual things I found funny about the stage play (couldn’t share earlier, because the play was still showing)

Ways to detect if He’s a Lagos Big Boy

  • He believes in packaging

  • He is a hustler – either he’s chasing one contract or the other or knows someone who knows someone

  • He is a spender

  • He is an event animal – attends all the big events in Lagos

  • He wants to know what you can do and how you can be of help

  • He is a KC boy

  • He doesn’t want liabilities – no young ones, no parents

  • He thinks the mainland is too far

  • He always showers you with gifts

  • He will show you off

(I missed out the last one, but I mean, if you fit 70% description, congratulations! You’re a Lagos big boy)

I haven’t finished any books this month. I think I finished The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffeneger last month or two months ago (not sure lol). My iPad’s screen is cracked and then the charger is bad too. Hopefully, when I fix those, I’ll continue reading my e-books.

In conclusion, July will be better hopefully. Got an email last week from a reader here and I appreciate, thank you very much! Also if you read here, I told you I kinda had big news I wanted to share. Okay, yes, I’m currently a contributor to a lifestyle and fashion website (Read here so yes, patronize me and go to the site to check what’s up. Meanwhile, if you think there’s anything I should check out (movies, books, music, places, websites etc.) please leave a comment, I’m open to suggestions

Peace, love and everything you wish for

Young grasshopper!!
